Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or case number entered into a search tool is transmitted to the third-party provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and presents its own results. Randolph County Court Docket does not retain or log those entered search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If an email is sent to the site, it may be retained to respond to the sender. Messages remain within the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, server and analytics systems may receive routine technical information about the visit:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
This site uses cookies, small files stored on a device, to understand aggregate use such as page traffic and navigation patterns. Analytics services help combine that traffic information. Browser settings can block cookies, although some features may operate differently when they are blocked.
What We Do With This Data
The information described above is used for routine operation and improvement of the service.
- Operating the site and maintaining page performance
- Passing a query to the appropriate partner service
- Assessing which reference pages are useful to visitors
- Identifying and correcting technical problems
- Delivering advertising that may be relevant to visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
This site does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of court dockets or personal case records. It provides general information about the Randolph County Clerk of Superior Court, the local trial courts, and the North Carolina eCourts Portal. Under N.C.G.S. §7A-109, the clerk maintains court records and dockets; that statutory responsibility does not belong to this private site. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or files about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes that appear on some pages. Information entered into a tool is subject to that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention and sharing practices, so its policy should be reviewed before a search is submitted.
Links to Other Websites
Links on this site may lead to clerk pages, court portals, statewide eCourts resources, legal-aid information, or third-party search tools. A destination site's privacy policy controls after a visitor leaves this site. Review that policy before providing personal information.
Some advertising partners may track activity across websites to tailor advertising. That activity occurs within their systems, not this site's systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Information may be disclosed to these categories of recipients:
- Search partners that process a query submitted through a tool
- Analytics providers used to measure traffic and performance
- Advertising networks that serve advertisements on the site
- Law-enforcement agencies or government bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Standard security practices are used to protect collected information. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, and no promise can be made that a security incident will never occur.
Users Under 18
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If the site learns that such information was collected, it will be deleted promptly.
Your Data Rights
North Carolina's court-record access rules identify the clerk, rather than this private site, as the custodian of local court files. N.C.G.S. §7A-109 addresses clerk-maintained court records, while N.C.G.S. §132-6 and §132-6.2 address inspection and copies. The North Carolina eCourts Portal FAQ also explains that online information is not the official court record. Those court-record rules do not replace the privacy practices stated here. At a minimum, a visitor may:
- Request a copy of information retained about that visitor
- Ask that inaccurate retained information be corrected
- Request deletion of retained information
- Choose not to participate in certain data-processing activities
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may be revised in the future. A revised version will appear on this page with an updated effective date.
